Description
Nose:
Bright, fresh, and surprisingly fruity for Caol Ila. Notes of lemon zest, green apple, and pear upfront. Sweet malt, vanilla cream, and honey follow. Hints of coastal air, minerality, and subtle herbs. Light char and faint smoke linger in the background despite its “unpeated” distillation—showing the distillery’s maritime DNA.
Palate:
Clean, vibrant, and powerful at cask strength. Flavours of citrus oils, barley sugar, white peach, and crisp apple. Creamy vanilla, light toffee, and soft oak spice develop with time. Waves of sea spray, mineral notes, and a gentle, distant smoke appear mid-palate. Texturally rich with a lively, peppery kick from the 55.9% ABV.
Finish:
Medium-long to long. Citrus peel, clean malt, subtle oak spice, and a trace of maritime smoke. Dry, elegant, and refreshingly coastal.
Style:
A unique take on Caol Ila—fresh, bright, malty, and coastal with just a whisper of smoke. Complex, crisp, and beautifully balanced at high strength.
