J.P. Wiser’s 22 Year Old Port Barrel –
Nose:
Rich and elegant with layers of dark fruits, dried berries, ripe plums, and hints of cherries from the port influence. Subtle notes of toasted oak, vanilla, and warm baking spices develop with time in the glass.
Palate:
Silky and full-bodied. Flavours of blackcurrant, fig, and raspberry compote come forward, beautifully balanced by creamy caramel, soft oak, and gentle spice. The long aging brings a refined smoothness and depth, while the port barrel finishing adds a touch of sweetness and complexity.
Finish:
Long, warm, and fruit-forward with lingering notes of red berries, oak spice, and a touch of dark chocolate.
