1. Shipping Policy
1.1 Age Verification Requirement
By law, all shipments containing alcohol require an adult signature (21+) upon delivery.
Carriers (FedEx/UPS/Regional) cannot leave packages at your doorstep.
The recipient must present a valid government-issued photo ID to the driver to verify they are of legal drinking age.
If no adult is available to sign, the package will not be delivered and may be returned to us.
1.2 Where We Ship
We currently ship to the following states: [List States Here, e.g., CA, NY, FL, TX].
Restricted Zones: Due to state alcohol laws, we cannot ship to: [List Restricted States, e.g., UT, MS, AL].
No P.O. Boxes: We cannot ship alcohol to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses. A physical street address is required.
1.3 Shipping Costs & Times
Standard Ground: 3-7 business days. Cost: Calculated at checkout based on weight and distance.
Expedited: 2-3 business days. (Recommended for wine during extreme heat/cold).
Handling Time: Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days.
1.4 Weather Holds
To protect the quality of your wine/spirits, we may hold shipments during periods of extreme heat or cold. We will notify you if your order is delayed due to weather.
2. Returns & Refunds Policy
2.1 Alcohol Returns
Due to federal and state regulations, we generally cannot accept returns of alcoholic beverages once they have been successfully delivered, unless the product is spoiled, corked, or damaged in transit.
2.2 Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged or if you received the wrong item:
Do not discard the broken bottle or packaging.
Take clear photos of the damage and the shipping box.
Contact us at [support@yourwebsite.com] within 48 hours of delivery.
We will arrange for a replacement or store credit upon verification.
2.3 Failed Deliveries
If a package is returned to us because:
An adult (21+) was not available to sign after 3 attempts, or
The address provided was incorrect,
We will refund the cost of the alcohol minus shipping charges and a restocking fee of [e.g., 15-25%].
2.4 Cancellation Policy
Orders may be cancelled for a full refund before they have shipped. Once a tracking number has been generated, the order cannot be cancelled, but may be eligible for a return (subject to restocking fees) if refused upon delivery.
⚠️ Important Implementation Notes
- State Lists: You must manually fill in the “Where We Ship” section. Alcohol shipping laws in the US (or your country) are extremely specific. Use a compliance tool or consult a legal expert to know exactly which states you can ship to.
- Restocking Fee: It is standard industry practice to charge a restocking fee (usually 15-25%) for failed deliveries because shipping alcohol is expensive and legally complex.
- Weather Holds: This is a crucial “pro” feature. Selling expensive wine in July without a weather hold clause can lead to cooked wine and angry customers.
